Hotel Bellustar, our hotel in Tokyo, was very nice, modern and new (about 2 years old). Our rooms were sort of ovals with a wall of windows offering a panoramic view of the City. The lobby was on the 18th floor of this high rise building with rooms beginning around the 40th. Breakfast was included with a buffet menu (choose an item from each category), including everything from fried eggs and omelets to souffle French toast. I’m a coffee snob admittedly and found the brewed coffee undrinkable without milk, But they offered an excellent latte, hot or iced. Breakfast did not open before 7 AM, quite late for early risers. Same with Starbucks. So we made-do with nespresso in the room and brewed tea (for me) in the early hours.
We had a club sandwich in the bar one night and aside from its exorbitant cost, it was unremarkable.
The hotel was convenient to Shinjuku train station which we used to get where we were going on the days we were on our own without a guide.
Peter Lynch, of Magellan fund fame, was staying there with his family (including young grandchildren). We saw him at breakfast a couple of days. Jim chatted with him briefly. The family had been skiing and were heading to Disney from Bellustar (he indicated he would have preferred going to the baseball games!)
Overall, extremely friendly and nice.
We will return there for one night at the end of our trip.
